HEAD OF MARKETING: PUBLIC PROGRAMMES
Join us as Head of Marketing: Public Programmes, leading audience-focused marketing campaigns to champion an ambitious range of dance performances and programmes for diverse audiences.
Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Head of Marketing: Public Programmes will oversee all sales, marketing, and audience development strategies for live and digital projects for strands of Public Programmes at The Place and on tour.
Our Public Programmes include:
Presenting approximately 50 companies per year in the theatre (including visiting work and The Place’s own commissions), and festival programming like A Festival of Korean Dance and Resolution Festival.
Touring The Place’s produced work locally, nationally, and internationally.
A programme of classes attracting over 30,000 children and adults each year.
Artist Development projects (including Choreodrome residencies, Webinar Wednesdays, Stomping Ground, callouts, and workshops).
Developing and leading a new small-scale touring dance initiative.
A Creative Learning programme for local communities.
JOB OVERVIEW
The Head of Marketing: Public Programmes will play a vital role in promoting the work of The Place, working to attract audience members and participants to our performances, events, and classes at the London venue and on tour, engaging more people in dance locally, nationally, and internationally.
Working with the Director of Communications, they will have a lead role in the strategic approach in communicating our public programmes, supporting the Director of Communications to also be able to focus attention on the London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS) and broader institutional communications.
This post holder will oversee all Public Programmes marketing activities including cross-channel campaign development and delivery to keep our audience appraised of programmes and convert interest to sales. This post holder will monitor audience makeup and evaluate campaigns to feed into organisational analysis and Arts Council England (ACE) reporting.
They will manage two Marketing Officers who work across Public Programmes at The Place, and occasionally manage freelance marketeers on project-based work. In addition, they will manage and work closely with a large ream of freelance designers, filmmakers, photographers, and suppliers as needed.
The Head of Marketing: Public Programmes will work closely with the rest of the communications team to maximise opportunities to profile The Place in line with our brand values, including: working with the Press and PR Manager to support efforts to feature as much of our Public Programmes as possible in reviews, previews and blog posts; and collaborating with the Marketing Manager: Education Programmes to profile connections with the London Contemporary Dance School (e.g. alumni performing in programmed work).
They will also work closely with our Projects Producers and Senior Producer in the Producing & Touring team, and with independent artists and producers, nurturing existing, and developing new relationships, with venues and partners of varying shapes and sizes across the UK.

SALARY & CONTRACT TERMS
SALARY
The salary for this position is circa £41,045 per annum.
Salaries are reviewed in August each year when any cost-of-living increases are made. No salary changes are made until after successful completion of a probationary period.
CONTRACT TERMS
This is an open-ended permanent contract. This is a full-time position (equivalent to 40 hours per week). These hours are inclusive of a one-hour paid lunch break each day. Your hours of work will be agreed with the line manager.
Whilst in the six-month probationary period the notice period will be two weeks. Once this period is successfully completed the post holder will be confirmed in the post and the notice period will be four weeks.
