CREATIVE LEARNING ASSISTANT MANAGER
An exciting opportunity to bring dance to young people through school and community outreach in this key role within our Creative Learning Team.
JOB OVERVIEW
This role combines project initiation, development, and management as well as practical teaching/workshop leading. It is central to our ambition of developing and disseminating knowledge about best practice in creative teaching and learning, both within and beyond the formal education sector. The Creative Learning Assistant Manager leads on our work in Primary schools, supports work in Secondary education, and supports the Creative Learning Producer in devising and delivering our Community Projects and Youth Events.
This position is subject to satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

SALARY & CONTRACT TERMS
SALARY
The salary for this position is £34,682 per annum.
Salaries are reviewed in August each year when any cost-of-living increases are made. No salary changes are made until after successful completion of a probationary period.
CONTRACT TERMS
This is an open-ended, permanent contract. This is a full-time position (equivalent to 40 hours per week). These hours are inclusive of a one-hour paid lunch break each day. Your hours of work will be agreed with the line manager.
Whilst in the six-month probationary period the notice period will be two weeks. Once this period is successfully completed the post holder will be confirmed in the post and the notice period will be eight weeks.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures relating to young people and vulnerable adults.
Up-to-date knowledge of the dance sector and organisations, including good practice in dance teaching and the ability to judge good quality teaching.
SKILLS
The ability to engage and communicate with a wide range of people.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365, databases/online systems.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Experience of working within school settings, preferably within a dance context.
Experience of developing and managing learning, participation, and/or engagement projects (including budget management).
Experience of supervising a team including part-time/freelance staff.
Experience using/creating risk assessments relating to dance programmes and working in schools.
Experience acting as a Deputy Safeguarding Officer.
ATTRIBUTES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Strong organisational skills, including an ability to prioritise workload, ability to meet deadlines, an eye for detail.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
SKILLS
Public speaking.
Ability to update and maintain website content.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Delivery of creative sessions and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for schoolteachers.
A teaching qualification.
Experience of project managing performances and events ideally derived from non-professional participation.
Experience of developing a health and safety policy relating to dance programmes and working in schools.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
PLANNING AND STRATEGY
With support from the the Creative Learning Producer and other colleagues:
Devise the strategy for the schools programmes and community engagement projects.
Research opportunities and cultivate relationships with artists and partners that support the above including attending performances and events both at The Place and externally.
Contribute to funding applications, working with the Development Team to identify opportunities for funding, contribute to written applications and providing reporting information to support evaluation and future applications.
SCHOOLS PROGRAMMES
Devise and implement projects and on-going programmes of work, to include:
o Partner Schools Programme.
o Camden Schools Dance Festivals.
o Continuing Professional Development initiatives for artists and schoolteachers.
COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION AND ENGAGEMENT
Work with arts organisations, local businesses, and community groups to engage them in the work of The Place by supporting the Creative Learning Producer to produce and co-producing performance and participation projects with and for communities around The Place.
BUDGET MANAGEMENT
Manage income and expenditure budgets for the Schools programmes, maintain up to date financial records, and liaise with the Creative Learning Producer and the Executive Producer on budgets, management accounts and year-end financial results.
Contribute to financial planning with the Creative Learning Producer.
Process wages and programming costs in relation to the Creative Learning programme and generate invoice requests related to project income.
ADMINISTRATION, EVALUATION, AND REPORTING
With support from the Creative Learning Coordinator:
Undertake appropriate equal opportunities and quality assurance monitoring of the Creative Learning programme.
Capture monitoring statistics and feedback for analysis by the Creative Learning team and others at The Place and reporting to public funding bodies (e.g., Arts Council England, ACE).
Plan and implement evaluation plans for schools and community programmes.
COMMUNICATIONS AND ADVOCACY
Keep up-to-date and well-informed with developments in dance education and national education policy, to be able to act as a specialist resource for other staff at The Place.
Work actively with the Communications team to promote Creative Learning programmes and projects through online channels, other marketing channels and media relations.
GENERAL DUTIES
Deal with a proportion of general enquiries and correspondence related to the Creative Learning programmes.
Act as a Deputy Safeguarding Officer, if required, for The Place and contribute to the development and management of The Place’s Safeguarding Policy and Procedures.
Participate in departmental and cross-organisational meetings.
Any other duties as may reasonably be requested by the Creative Learning Producer.
