ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES (EAP) TUTOR (FREELANCE)

JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Freelance English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Tutor to deliver English as an Additional Language (EAL) support for undergraduate and postgraduate students at London Contemporary Dance School.
The role will provide targeted academic language support through group and one-to-one tutorials, helping students develop the communication and study skills needed to succeed within a specialist dance training environment.
PAY RATE & CONTRACT TERMS
PAY RATE
The rate of pay for this position is £63.04 per hour.
CONTRACT TERMS
This is a freelance contract, and so you will be responsible for your own tax and National Insurance Contributions. Work will be delivered on an agreed schedule of approx. 1-2 days a week depending on student demand, with hours agreed in advance according to operational need.

INTERVIEWS
Interviews will be conducted either in person at The Place or remotely via Microsoft Teams (or similar platform as necessary).
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Degree or equivalent qualification in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Education or a related field.
Experience delivering English as an Additional Language support in higher education or a similar setting.
Experience planning and delivering workshops and one-to-one tutorials.
Strong understanding of academic English and language development.
Experience supporting international students in UK higher education.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Up to date knowledge of EAP and inclusive teaching practice.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently while liaising effectively with colleagues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver English for academic purposes support for undergraduate and postgraduate students through individual and group tutorials that supports a specialist dance environment.
Develop and deliver pre-sessional and in-sessional EAP provision, both online and in person.
Support students in developing academic English, communication skills and discipline-specific language.
Assess students' English language needs using appropriate diagnostic methods and tailor support accordingly.
Contribute to Welcome Week activities for international students where required.
Liaise with the Learning Support Coordinator and academic staff to ensure support aligns with course requirements.
Report student engagement through up to date and accurate records.
